Winding through the heart of Evansville, this 10-foot wide paved trail offers
spectacular views of nature in the city. Construction will soon be
completed to make it a continuous 6.75-mile
greenway, beginning near a canoe launch off Heidelbach Avenue and following
Pigeon Creek as it meanders through city parks and neighborhoods to the scenic
downtown esplanade on the Ohio River. There
are only two street crossings on the entire route, making it safe and enjoyable. It’s perfect for walking, riding your bike or
wheelchair, exercising your dog, strollering your baby or training for a
marathon. Storyboards along the way tell
the history of the city and its people.
A long-time dream is for the greenway to eventually circle the city and
extend east to connect with a trail to Newburgh.
